abstract | The fine catalyst particles are loaded onto a sol-gel method porous carrier having fine pores of 0.1 to 50 nm, and the carbon compound is decomposed to form a carbon nanotube film aligned perpendicular to the surface of the carrier on the carrier. The starting sol prepared by the sol-gel method is a dispersion of fine alumina particles, fine aluminum hydroxide particles, fine silica particles or mixtures thereof. Alternatively, the starting sol can be aluminum alkoxides, alkoxysilanes, mixtures thereof, or solutions of aluminum alkoxides, alkoxysilanes or mixtures thereof. If desired, flammable or pyrolytic organic compounds can be added as microporous templates. |
