titleOfInvention Electron emitting device, electron source, and image forming apparatus
abstract The electron emitting device includes a first electrode disposed on the substrate, an insulating layer disposed on the first electrode, and a second electrode disposed on the insulating layer. The second electrode has a first surface and a second surface, which surfaces are substantially perpendicular to the direction in which the first electrode and the insulating layer are stacked. The first surface of the second electrode is in contact with the insulating layer. A potential higher than that applied to the second electrode is applied to the first electrode to emit electrons from the second surface.
