abstract | The present invention relates to highly acidic metallized organic acid compositions and methods for their preparation. Acidic compositions can be prepared by mixing monovalent or polyvalent cations and organic acids in the presence of strong oxyacids, wherein the acidic compositions obtained are less corrosive to ferrous metals than solutions of inorganic acids having the same acidic pH value as the acidic composition. The acidic composition is more biocidal than a mixture of organic acids and metal salts of organic acids having the same acid normal concentration value as the acidic composition. Acidic compositions can be prepared by mixing one or more regenerating acids, one or more metal bases and one or more organic acids, the amount of regenerating acids exceeding the equivalents of the metal bases. |
