Provided is a high capacity sealed nickel zinc primary battery having excellent characteristics such as capacity retention rate, energy density, and high rate discharge characteristics at the time of storage, without impairing discharge rate characteristics, a positive electrode used therein, and a manufacturing method thereof. A sealed nickel zinc primary battery using particles of nickel hydroxide-based compounds such as nickel oxyhydroxide as the positive electrode active material, and zinc alloy gel as the negative electrode material, wherein the ratio of the positive electrode theoretical capacity to the negative electrode theoretical capacity is 1.0 to 1.6. It is set as the sealed nickel zinc primary battery whose ratio of alkaline electrolyte solution with respect to positive electrode theoretical capacity was 1.0-1.6 ml / Ah. |
