Stenophyllic mediators are provided containing at least one bio-limiting agent such as copper, tin, nitel or alloys thereof. The medium may be formed of a polymer such as a thermoplastic polymer. The fraudulent polymer may be an epoxy resin, polyester resin, polyurethane resin or amimoplast resin. The media may also be formed from naturally occurring tars and amalgams of resins. In one embodiment, the polymer is a crosslinked polyepoxide prepared from an epoxy resin and a polyamine crosslinking agent. The media will also include nutrient resources. The media are used to prevent odors by applying a coating of the media to a substrate, such as the surface of a board or ship's hull, election or piping or bustle van, and allowing selected biomass to form on the media. The selected biomass produces aliphatic chemicals that prevent the attachment of higher animals. |
