The present invention relates to sulfonamide derivatives having a fatty affinity moiety and being substantially soluble. The sulfonamide derivatives are remarkably used as pharmaceutically active compounds. The invention also relates to pharmaceutical formulations containing such sulfonamide derivatives. The sulfonamide derivatives are effective regulators of the JNK pathway, which are particularly effective and selective inhibitors of JNK2 and 3. Moreover, the present invention relates to novel sulfonamide derivatives as well as methods for their preparation.
