Disclosed is a chemical composition associated with a fluorescent polymer and comprising a quencher (Q), a chaining element (T), a ligand that quenches the fluorescent polymer. When the assay sample is introduced, the ligand (L) binds to the target biological material, if present, to separate the QTL molecules from the fluorescent polymer and thereby increase the fluorescence to be detected. The same compound is advantageously used in competition assays. An electric field can also be applied to separate QTL molecules from fluorescent polymers. Also disclosed is a method of detecting a target for this method. |
