titleOfInvention Method for manufacturing an automotive trim part
abstract The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a skin (2) for forming a visible front (3) of a car interior trim interior, wherein the trim interior has at least one rear (7) spaced a distance to the rear side of the visible surface. Prefabricated insert (6). The skin is made by applying and curing at least one flowable skin material to produce a nonporous or microporous elastomeric plastic skin 2 on at least one side of the mold 9. Prior to joining the structural backing layer 4 or the intermediate foam layer 5 to the backside of the skin, a prefabricated insert is adhesively fixed to the skin material. It is preferable to use a polyurethane reaction mixture as the flowable skin material. The prefabricated insert is preferably partially adhesively fixed by the tackiness of the flowable skin material before it is fully cured. The method of the invention allows the plastic material of the skin and the insert to be finished in appearance.
