titleOfInvention | Thermosetting resin-fiber composite and method and apparatus for the manufacture thereof |
abstract | The present invention relates to a structure of a composite material comprising a thermosetting resin and a fiber reinforcement or fiber filler; And to a method for producing the same. The thermosetting resin composition contains a particulate thermosetting phenol-aldehyde resin and the particulate curing agent for the thermosetting resin. The curing agent is encapsulated in a water-insoluble thermoplastic resin having a softening point higher than (1) the melting point of the thermosetting resin and (2) the temperature at which the thermosetting resin flows on the solid substrate. In addition, the encapsulating thermoplastic resin can be dissolved in the thermosetting resin capable of curing the thermosetting resin by melting the encapsulating thermoplastic resin and heating the curing agent when it is released. Phenol-aldehyde resins are novolacs formed by condensation of phenolic components, wherein the phenolic component is one represented by the formula R-CHO, wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or a halogenated methyl group. It contains one or more difunctional phenols having at least aldehyde components. |
