Active materials for lithium secondary batteries include materials capable of electrochemically inserting and removing lithium and having a metal iron rating of less than 5 ppm. Metal iron grades of less than 5 ppm improve the performance of lithium secondary batteries by maintaining capacity retention after a certain number of cycles in a higher numerical range. |
