abstract | This invention relates to providing the red phosphorus flame retardant for epoxy resins which can suppress the oxo acid of phosphorus eluted from red phosphorus, and can provide the flame retardance excellent to the epoxy resin for semiconductor sealing materials. The red phosphorus-based flame retardant for the epoxy resin includes a coated red phosphorus coated with a thermosetting resin containing the anhydrous zinc compound on the surface of the red phosphorus particles or further coated with a thermosetting resin containing the anhydrous zinc compound after the red phosphorus particle surface is coated with an inorganic substance. The coated red phosphorus had an electrical conductivity of 30 kPa / cm or less in a slurry dispersed in water at 20 ° C at 10 wt%, and an electrical conductivity of 150 kPa / cm or less after leaving the slurry at 80 ° C for 20 hours. 80 g of water is added to 8 g of red phosphorus, and the concentration of PO 4 ions eluted when heated at 80 ° C. for 20 hours is 10 ppm or less. |
