titleOfInvention | Reagents and methods for detecting a reduced cofactor |
abstract | The present invention provides signal generation systems, reagent compositions, test strips and kits thereof, as well as methods of use thereof in analyte detection. The signal generation system is characterized by having at least one first electron transfer agent and a second electron transfer agent and a redox indicator, in a number of preferred embodiments the system comprises, for example, a phenazine compound and a diaphorase. Such proteinaceous electron transfer agents and nonproteinaceous electron transfer agents. In many preferred embodiments, the present systems and kits further comprise one or more or often both of an enzyme cofactor and an enzyme with analyte oxidative activity (eg, analyte dehydrogenase). The present systems, reagent compositions, test strips and kits can be used for the detection of various analytes in a sample, such as, for example, a physiological sample such as blood or fractions thereof. |
