abstract The present invention develops a mutant Bacillus subtilis BS-197, which is missing transketolase, and uses the mutant Bacillus subtilis BS-197 to culture a basic culture medium containing xylose and glucose. The present invention relates to a method for biologically producing ribose by growing a strain, activating ribose production, culturing the strain in a fermentation medium, and supplying a mixture of xylose and glucose in a fed-batch while producing ribose.
