titleOfInvention Liquid Transfer Laminate Permanently Conformable to the Contours of a Wearer
abstract The present invention provides a liquid transport laminate that is permanently matched to the contour of the wearer when used in a personal absorbent article or medical article. The laminate includes a liquid transport film and a fibrous nonwoven web. Both the film and the web are laterally extendable at least 25% above the original unextended width upon application of stretching force. The web and film, and the entire laminate show little and no shrinkage once stretched. Diapers or other garments can be constructed in a compact form using laminates to save material. When wearing the garment, the laminate is stretched only where it is needed to provide a practically perfect fit for the wearer. Minimal shrinkage prevents skin marks, rashes, and the like that can result from elastic garments.
