The present invention relates to human VEGF-2 polypeptides, biologically active fragments thereof, diagnostic or therapeutically useful fragments, homologues or derivatives thereof, and DNA (RNA) encoding such VEGF-2 polypeptides. The present invention also relates to methods of producing such polypeptides by recombinant techniques, and to antibodies and antagonists against said polypeptides. The polypeptides and polynucleotides can be used therapeutically to stimulate wound healing and repair vascular tissue. The present invention also relates to methods of using said antibodies and antagonists to inhibit tumor growth, inflammation, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis by inhibiting tumor angiogenesis. |
