titleOfInvention Material and method for protecting articles
abstract Packaging materials and windings for protecting the product include films that have a predetermined shrinkage responsiveness to the heat applied to the film, which are self-supporting upon cooling after shrinkage and are formed of a rigid shell sufficient to retain shape when removed from the product. It consists of including an outer layer. The film is intermittently bonded to the nonwoven fabric such that the nonwoven fabric and the film move relative to each other when the film shrinks. The nonwoven fabric separates the product from the film (which may be tacky) and also absorbs the impact on the shell to prevent damage to the product. The packaging material is formed into a bag where the product is placed or placed on top of the product. Thereafter the bag is retracted around the product. The bag is air vented before sealing and shrinking so that the remaining moisture shrinks to prevent damage to the product.
