An object of the present invention is to provide a catalyst or catalyst carrier having a discharge electrode that can be effectively applied to a method for efficiently decomposing harmful substances such as dioxins in exhaust gas by plasma discharge. The present invention provides a catalyst or carrier provided with at least one side of a plate or sheet catalyst or carrier, the discharge electrode having a linear or rod-shaped electrode which may be pointed or crossed. The plate or sheet type catalyst or carrier includes cross type, board type, paper type and the like. The electrode is preferably formed by printing a conductive printing ink containing a metal such as silver on at least one surface of a plate or sheet catalyst or carrier, sintering metal powder, or depositing or sputtering a metal. The conductive ink may be paste type. Preferred shapes of the electrodes are comb teeth. |
