titleOfInvention Authentication system and method
abstract An authentication system using a correlator that correlates the input 84 with the reference 88 is disclosed. Wherein one or more of the input and the reference comprises a phase volume mask having a size of less than or equal to 6 microns and structures having aspect ratios of 1: And generates a random pattern. Any pattern may be associated with a second pattern, such as a biological pattern, to produce a phase related mask. Correlator 82 is preferably a nonlinear joint transforming corrector that can use " chirp " encoding. The corrector optically fourier transforms the images of the reference and input (98), which are then nonlinear transformed and inverse fourier transformed by the processor 104 to determine whether to authenticate (106, 110). A spatial light modulator (SLM) can be used as an input or reference.
