abstract |
A method of making microspheric toner particles suitable for application to color toners comprises the production of coarse particles of amorphous polymer comprising at least one pigment and optionally a charge control agent, and then a size suitable as a toner for high resolution electrostatic imaging. Reducing the particle size. Grinding the particles includes producing a particle dispersion in a liquid organic medium and applying shear force in the presence of a surfactant. In another embodiment, the present invention discloses a method for producing substantially amorphous microsphere particles having an average diameter in the range of about 2 to about 10 microns.
