The present invention relates to a novel synthetic porous crystalline material named MCM-68, a process for its preparation, a novel polycyclic organic cation for its preparation, and its use in the catalytic conversion of organic compounds. The novel crystalline material exhibits an unusual X-ray diffraction pattern, with at least one channel system in which each channel is defined by a 12 membered ring of tetrahedral atoms and a 10 membered ring of atoms with each channel tetrahedral It contains two or more additional independent channel systems defined, with a single crystal structure in which the number of single 10-membered ring channels is twice the number of 12-membered ring channels. |
