abstract |
The composite heat barrier coating system comprises a honeycomb metal structure 2 filled with high thermal expansion ceramic hollow spheres 6 in a phosphate bonded matrix. Composite thermal barrier coating systems can be made with a thickness T greater than current thermal barrier coating systems to give greater thermal protection. Better corrosion resistance and wear characteristics are also obtained. Composite thermal barrier coatings are useful for combustion turbine components such as ring seal segments, vane segment shrouds, transitions and combustors. |
