abstract | Aromatic polycarbonates which are excellent in high durability and color tone, transparency and mechanical strength, and particularly have high durability and stability in long-term use at high temperature and high humidity conditions; A method of producing the polycarbonate; And uses thereof.n n n The aromatic polycarbonate has a sodium content of 100 ppb or less, and nickel, lead, chromium, manganese and iron content of 70 ppb or less, respectively.n n n The method for producing the aromatic polycarbonate includes polycondensing an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a carbonic acid diester. Each starting material is adjusted so that (1) the sodium content therein is 52 bbp or less, and (2) the contents of iron, chromium, manganese, nickel and lead are respectively 40 bbp or less. For the polymerization reaction, (3) a special catalyst is used in a special amount based on the amount of iron contained in the starting material. |
