titleOfInvention A method and an apparatus for cutting of tissue blocks
abstract The present invention relates to a tissue embedding process and apparatus for cutting irregular tissue blocks into slabs having a cross section in the same orientation as any scanning surface used for CT, MRI or PET scanning. Using the embedded device, a tissue block with a regular outer surface that fits within the cutting device is embedded in the alginic acid plastic polymer. The embedding process allows for the reproduction of tissues and organs with irregular faces such as, for example, the brain and kidneys, in a renewable and arbitrary orientation. The device consists of an arrangement of elongated sharp blades in the frame which can be lowered through the operation of the crank. The sharp blade frame is vibrated by a pneumatic vibrator. The alginic acid tissue block is held in position with the vacuum created by the compressed air flow valve.
