titleOfInvention Method for preparing polycarbonates of enhanced crystallinity
abstract The degree of crystallinity of the amorphous precursor polycarbonate is improved by contacting the precursor with one or more diaryl carbonates such as diphenyl carbonate and then pelletizing and heating to a temperature from the melting point of the diaryl carbonate to the glass transition temperature of the amorphous precursor polycarbonate. The crystallinity enhancing operation can be carried out in the presence of dihydroxy organic monomers and then the solid phase polymerization operation can be carried out.
