Gene therapy for regulating smooth muscle cell tone |
abstract |
The present invention relates to a gene therapy method involving the transport and expression of a DNA sequence encoding a protein involved in the regulation of smooth muscle tension in smooth muscle. The present invention also provides a method for controlling smooth muscle tension of a subject, including the introduction and expression of a DNA sequence encoding a protein associated with the regulation of smooth muscle tension into a sufficient number of cells of a subject to control the muscle tension of the subject do. The invention also provides a recombinant viral vector and a non-viral vector comprising DNA encoding a protein involved in the regulation of smooth muscle tension. The present invention also provides a smooth muscle cell expressing a gene encoding a protein involved in the regulation of smooth muscle tension. |
