abstract Automated manufacturing machinery for forming wire structures, such as inner spring assemblies for mattresses, is provided with coil forming devices 201, 202 and chain 315 slidably mounted on track 306 and driven by index driver 320. A conveyor system 301 with a plurality of flights 308 connected to the inner spring assembly 500 having a first and second set of coil coupling dies 504a, 504b in a parallel arrangement. The dies diverge the upper and lower dies to position the uncompressed coil rows between the upper and lower die sets, and the assembly machine to converge the dies on the coils in a row to compress the coils in a row and securely secure them. Mounted on carrier bars 506a and 506b that translate vertically within. The indexer assembly 700 translates the carrier bar laterally, such that the side positions of the first and second die sets can be changed to provide continuous interconnection of coil rows.
