abstract |
The liquid crystal array and associated drive circuitry are monolithically formed over the sapphire silicon structure, and the following steps, i.e., forming an epitaxial silicon layer on the sapphire substrate to form a sapphire silicon structure; b) ion implantation onto the epitaxial silicon layer; c) annealing the sapphire silicon structure; d) oxidizing the epitaxial silicon layer to form a silicon dioxide layer from a portion of the epitaxial silicon layer so that a thin film epitaxial silicon layer remains; e) removing the silicon dioxide layer to expose the thin film epitaxial silicon layer; f) forming a pixel array from the thin film epitaxial silicon layer, each containing a ferroelectric liquid crystal capacitor; And g) forming an integrated circuit coupled to control pixels from the thin film epitaxial silicon layer. |
