abstract The present invention relates to purified receptors having specific binding affinities for Cys-Ser-Val-Thr-Cys-Gly ( SEQ ID NO: 1 ) -specific site of thrombospondin (TSP-1) SEQ ID NO: 2 and SEQ ID NO: 3 , SEQ ID NO: 2 and SEQ ID NO: 3 and mutants and antibodies and inhibitors to the receptors. The present invention also relates to a method of treating and diagnosing a disease using the receptor of SEQ ID NO: 2 and SEQ ID NO: 3 , fragments thereof, mutants or antibodies and ligands derived therefrom. The angioscidin provided by the purification method of the present invention can be useful in numerous diagnostic and medical situations such as diagnosis, prescription and treatment of cancer.
