Transdermally delivered aspirin |
abstract |
Aspirin compositions for transdermal administration contain powdered aspirin dissolved in a relatively high concentration in a solution consisting of a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent and an organic amine. The primary solvent is preferably an organic hydroxy compound having good transdermal propellant properties. The resulting aspirin solution is not irritating to the skin and shows good stability over the usable life of the transdermal administration patch. Patches suitable for administering the aspirin solution to the skin of patients are also described. |
