abstract The present invention describes a method for producing a field emitter array having a triode structure using carbon nanotubes having excellent electron emission characteristics. The field emission emitter array using carbon nanotubes according to the present invention has a catalyst layer of transition metal for promoting the growth of carbon nanotubes on the cathodes, or carbon nanotubes on a conical or flat head microtip formed on the cathodes. By having a structure in which the tubes are deposited, the structure is simple and the existing manufacturing process is almost used as a conventional manufacturing apparatus except for one or two processes such as a catalyst layer forming process and a vacuum heat treatment process of a transition metal.
