abstract The present invention relates to materials and methods for identifying and analyzing intermediate repeating sequence (ITR) sequences in DNA, which are regions of DNA sequences containing one or more 5-7 base repeat units that are repeated two or more times. DNA markers for high polymorphic ITR positions in the human genome are identified and analyzed using particularly preferred embodiments of the materials and methods of the present invention.
