The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound of Groups 8 to 10 having a nitrogen-containing tridentate ligand and an organoaluminum compound such as trimethylaluminum, and a method for producing a polyolefin using the catalyst. By using the catalyst according to the present invention, it is possible to prepare a high activity and high molecular weight polyolefin, and thus practical and high molecular weight polyolefins without using expensive, inconvenient handling, unstable storage, and high risk of methylaluminoxane ( In particular polyethylene) can be produced industrially advantageously. |
