Stable Shaped Particles of Crystalline Organic Compounds |
abstract |
The present invention provides allotropic organic compound particles having a certain form of storage stability. The particles of the present invention can have a particular form depending on the desired use. Preferred forms of these particles are microspheres, in particular microspheres having a diameter of about 1 to 1000 μm. Particles of the present invention having a stable, uniform form are particularly suitable for the manufacture of pharmaceutical formulations that require sustained release and uniform bioavailability. Storage stable particles are produced by solid state crystallization of allotrope organic compounds. The solid state crystallization process of the present invention provides a means of obtaining the storage stable crystalline form of the allotrope compound without loss or degradation of the original dimensions of the particles. |
