abstract | Fluorescent Pseudomonas species are effective in controlling diseases caused by Lyzoctonia, Gaumanmannomyces graminis and Pythium. The bioregulatory strains have a unique genotype that appears as a distinctive band, and have higher root density due to the higher density of individuals on the roots and expanded clustering activity than the conventional Gg inhibitory strains. Another characteristic of bioregulatory strains is that they have the same degree of bioregulatory activity that occurs spontaneously in erosion-neutral soils. In addition, methods for isolating and identifying such strains, and for use in disease control by Gg are provided. Fluorescent Pseudomonas gene mutants with gene loci encoding the production of antibiotic 2,4-diacetylfloroglucinol, and biosynthetic loci encoding the production of antibiotic phenazine-1-carboxylic acid stably inserted into the genome Is initiated. |
