Microemulsion dilutable cleaner |
abstract |
Microemulsions comprising a mixture of surfactants different from the oil phase where the "oil" is a nonionic surfactant, the overwhelming aqueous continuous phase, a polar organic solvent coupling agent and a surfactant oil phase as a dispersant to facilitate the formation of microemulsions. A concentrated dilutable cleaning composition is provided, wherein the cleaning composition is dilutable with water for use as a general purpose cleaning agent and exhibits the properties of blooming during such dilution in the absence of lipophilic oils (or solvents). It is characterized by. Blooming phenomena are associated with the formation of liquid crystal dispersions, where the liquid crystal state has been found to significantly improve the cleaning effect of the composition. In one aspect of the invention, one of the dispersant surfactants is a cationic surfactant, which may be a quaternary ammonium compound capable of imparting a bactericidal effect to the composition. |
