titleOfInvention | Improved alkyl aryl sulfonate surfactants |
abstract | The present invention relates to alkylarylsulfonate surfactant systems comprising at least two isomers of alkylarylsulfonate surfactants of formula (I) wherein the alkylarylsulfonate surfactant system is a combination of the bonding positions of R ', R "and A with respect to L. Comprising at least two isomers and in at least 60% of the alkylarylsulfonate surfactant systems, A is bonded to L at a position selected from the alpha- and beta- positions for one of the two terminal carbon atoms of L In addition, the alkylarylsulfonate surfactant system is characterized in that the weight ratio of non-quaternary carbon atoms to quaternary carbon atoms of L when the quaternary carbon atoms are present in the L and at least 10: 1 hardness test. To at least one (preferably both) of properties having a weight loss rate of 40% or less, as measured by Tolerance Test).n n n Formula In n n n n n n n In Formula I above,n n n L is a bicyclic aliphatic hydrocarbyl having 6 to 18 carbon atoms in total;n n n M is a cation or cation mixture and q is its valency;n n n a and b are numbers selected such that the composition is electrically neutral;n n n R 'is selected from H and C 1 to C 3 alkyl;n n n R ″ is selected from H and C 1 to C 3 alkyl;n n n R '''is selected from H and C 1 to C 3 alkyl;n n n Both R 'and R "are bonded at positions other than the terminal of L, and at least one of R' and R" is C 1 to C 3 alkyl;n n n A is aryl. |
