abstract Has a cage structure, at least about 40 mol% of carbon-containing substituents, and has a dielectric constant of about 2.7n n n The following organic hydridosiloxane polymer is disclosed. Each silicon atom in the cage polymer is bonded to at least three oxygen atoms and hydrogen atoms or organic substituents. By providing such a cage structure that is essentially free of any hydroxyl or alkoxy substituents attached on the polymer backbone or on the terminal silicon atoms, essentially no chain length extension polymerization takes place in solution. Such organic hydridosiloxane resins having molecular weights of about 400 to 200,000 atomic mass units are formed using dual phase solvent systems and solid phase or phase transfer catalysts to form condensation of hydridotrihalosilanes with at least one organic trihalosilane.
