Layered absorbent structure |
abstract |
Characteristic absorbent articles of the present invention comprise an absorbent core having a plurality of absorbent layers, which interact in such a way as to preferentially place the absorbed liquid into a designated highly saturated wicking layer. Confinement of the liquid into this wicking layer increases the likelihood that the layer will migrate the liquid through capillary action due to the increased amount of available liquid and higher saturation. The suction power of the absorber is maintained or improved over current absorbers by keeping the second layer area of the absorber at a low saturation level through the outflow of as much product as possible while properly adjusting the composite properties to provide optimum suction performance. . The low saturation of this layer not only provides empty volume for the incoming feces but also provides high permeability, which increases the absorption of the absorption system as a whole, but the structure of the low saturation layer also provides a moderately high level of capillary tension. To ensure that the liquid is balanced enough to stop the leak from occurring, the liquid is sufficiently controlled. |
