Substantially permanent or removable coatings can be prepared from compositions comprising polymers dissolved or dispersed in water, low boiling polar organic solvents and multi-solvent media containing high boiling solvents. The polymer is characterized by having a structural unit formed by polymerizing a polymerizable strong cationic monomer, a polymerizable acid monomer and an optional non-interfering monomer. The composition of the present invention forms a dust-free, non-tacky film that can be removed by a mixture of water and an organic solvent. By adding a crosslinking agent to the composition, the film can be resistant not only to organic solvents but also to acids and bases. |
