The present invention relates to oligomers capable of inhibiting the expression of collagen genes. Each oligomer, when inserted into a cell, forms a transcription-inhibiting complex consisting of this oligomer and the collagen gene promoter portion. This oligomer, preferably phosphorothioate deoxynucleotide, preferably binds in an antiparallel direction to the polypurine strand of the polypurine-polypyrimidine portion of the promoter portion of the mammalian α1 (I) collagen gene. |
