The present invention relates to a process for preparing N-acyl amino carboxylic acid by carboxymethylation reaction. In this reaction, a reaction mixture is formed containing an aldehyde having a base pair, a carbon monoxide, hydrogen and a carbamoyl compound, and a base pair containing a carboxymethylated catalyst precursor. In a preferred embodiment, the carbamoyl compound and the aldehyde are selected to obtain an N-acyl amino carboxylic acid, or salt or ester thereof, which is readily converted to N- (phosphonomethyl) glycine. |
