titleOfInvention Method of checking unevenness of light-transmitting substance, apparatus therefor, and method of sorting transparent substrates
abstract Laser light from the laser is introduced into its introduction surface in the transparent substrate using a mirror. The laser light introduced into the transparent substrate is totally reflected in the substrate by repeating total reflection at the surface (main surface and end face) of the transparent substrate. However, if there is a nonuniform portion such as a wound on the surface of the transparent substrate, the total reflection condition is not satisfied and light leaks out from the nonuniform portion. This leaked light is ligated to the CCD with a lens system and image processed by the image processing apparatus. In the detected image, a nonuniform portion having a wound or the like on a dark background appears shining in a linear shape, a dot shape, or the like, and can detect a nonuniform portion such as an extremely fine wound.
