Retroreflective article having launderably durable bead-bond |
abstract |
The retroreflective article 10 of the present invention has a retroreflective member 12 partially embedded in a bonding layer 14 comprising solid polyurethane. Polyurethanes include soft segments, hard segments, silicon portions and urethane portions. The identification of the particular chemical and the relative content of the segments and portions are sufficient to impart the desired high elongation and low modulus to the polymer. The retroreflective articles of the present invention can exhibit surprising laundry durability even for tumble and tunnel dryers under industrial scale cleaning conditions. |
