titleOfInvention Method for preparing poly-p-dioxanone polymer
abstract Poly-p-dioxanone comprises (a) an effective amount of p-dioxanone under temperature and pressure conditions effective to produce a reaction product mixture comprising p-dioxanone that has not reacted with molten poly-p-dioxanone. Heating the reaction mixture comprising the polymerization catalyst; (b) adding cyclic anhydride to the reaction product mixture under conditions effective to react the poly-p-dioxanone with the cyclic anhydride to form end-capped poly-p-dioxanone; (c) exposing the reaction product mixture to a temperature in the range of 50 to 150 ° C. under reduced pressure to remove unreacted p-dioxanone from the reaction product mixture; (d) prepared in a process comprising recovering the end-capped poly-p-dioxanone. This process enables the economic production of high molecular weight poly-p-dioxanone in the molten state.
