A process for producing propylene oxide by reacting propylene with ethylbenzene hydroperoxide, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of a catalyst comprising titanium oxide containing silicon oxide and satisfying both conditions (1) to (5). This is described.n n n (1): In X-ray diffraction, there is at least one peak indicating that the lattice spacing d is at least 18 dB.n n n (2): The average pore size is 10 mm 3 or more.n n n (3): The pore size of 90% or more of the total pore volume is 5 to 200 mm 3.n n n (4) The specific pore volume is 0.2 cm 3 / g or more.n n n (5): The quaternary ammonium ion of the general formula (1) is used as a template, and the template is then removed by a calcination process.n n n Formula 1n n n [NR 1 R 2 R 3 R 4 ] + n n n In Formula 1 above,n n n R 1 is a linear or branched hydrocarbon chain having 2 to 36 carbon atoms,n n n R 2 to R 4 are alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms. |
