titleOfInvention | Endless belt or fabric for use in a process control loop |
abstract | The present invention relates to endless belts and fabrics used in process control loops that can be used in the manufacture of the products specified herein. The belt of the invention has means for emitting electromagnetic radiation upon excitation by an energy source. That is, the belt of the present invention has a sensor that emits electromagnetic radiation upon excitation by an energy source, such as an external source located towards the belt. The sensor contains an electromagnetic radiation compound dispersed in the matrix. The sensor also contains scattering material. The sensor takes the form of a filamentous material, coating or film that can be incorporated on or in the belt. In operation, energy released from the energy source is directed at the belt. When the sensor is excited by energy, the sensor emits electromagnetic radiation, which is detected by a detector located near it. Based on the peak wavelength and intensity of the electromagnetic radiation emitted from the sensor, the instrument operator can obtain useful information regarding the conditions of operation and operation of the belt. |
