titleOfInvention Decorative Laminates with Photoluminescent Substances
abstract There is provided a decorative laminate consisting of at least one cellulosic core sheet, at least one decorative sheet and any overlay sheet. In one embodiment, at least one of the overlay sheet and / or decorative sheet is impregnated with a mixture of transparent resin and photoluminescent material prior to being laminated. As a result, the entire upper surface of the laminate is visually emitted in the presence of excitation radiation. In another embodiment, an image or pattern is printed on one or more decorative sheets with an ink comprising an organic photoluminescent material to provide a visually fluorescent image or pattern. It is believed that surface treatments for a wide range of applications, including markings such as bowling lanes, game tables, kitchen countertops, dance floors, and “outlet” markings, can be used to provide a unique and attractive appearance when the present invention is used.
