abstract The present invention fermentation of cephalosporin-producing microorganisms in the presence of a side chain precursor, extracting the N-substituted cephalosporin compound in the fermentation broth with an organic solvent, and back-extracting the N-substituted cephalosporin compound with water, Is a novel process for the preparation of deacylated cephalosporins at 7-amino groups by treating with a dicarboxylate acylase and separating the crystalline cephalosporin compound according to formula (I) from the conversion solution. Before the fermentation broth extract or before further treatment of the reverse extract relates to a production method characterized in that the culture in the acidic conditions and elevated temperature. Another improvement of the method is obtained by washing the first organic solvent extract with acidic water or extracting the side chain with an organic solvent or treating the aqueous cephalosporin solution prepared in one or more steps of the process with carbon dioxide.
