The present invention relates to an acyl coay: cholesterol-O-acyltransferase (ACAT) activity inhibitor composition comprising naringin or naringenin. The composition includes medicinal and food compositions. The composition of the present invention can be usefully used as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for various cardiovascular diseases since it inhibits ACAT activity in the animal and reduces blood low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. |
