titleOfInvention Low eddy current and low hysteresis magnet pole faces in mr imaging
abstract The present invention relates to a pole face for use in an open magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system, wherein the pole surface consists of a plurality of blocks with a laminate sheet. The laminates of the block are aligned such that the laminates of the block are parallel to the magnetic flux of the applied time-changing magnetic field. Each laminate is made of an amorphous material so that there is no dominant magnetic field alignment. This configuration reduces eddy currents induced on the magnetic pole surface and reduces artifacts in the acquired image by reducing residual magnetization.
